Overview

Shelley's greenbul, also known as Shelley's bulbul, is a passerine bird belonging to the bulbul family. It is a species found in east-central Africa, formally described in 1897 by George Ernest Shelley.

Habitat

This bird inhabits subtropical or tropical dry forests as well as subtropical or tropical moist montane forests in east-central Africa. Its range extends across eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, western Kenya, western and eastern Tanzania, and northern Malawi.

Did you know?

Although currently classified as a single species with four subspecies, the kakamegae and kungwensis subspecies have occasionally been treated as a separate species, the Kakamega greenbul, despite mitochondrial DNA studies revealing only small plumage differences.
