Pricing

Identifying a bird is free, and stays free. Premium is for keeping what you have found.

Three ways to pay

One subscription, billed by whichever store you installed from. The lifetime option is a single purchase rather than a subscription — you buy it once and it does not renew.

Monthly

$6.99per month

Cancel whenever you like. Useful if you mostly record in spring.

Yearly

$54.99per year

Works out at $4.58 a month — a third less than paying monthly.

Lifetime

$99.99one payment

Bought once, kept for good. Pays for itself against the yearly plan in twenty-two months.

Prices are in US dollars. The App Store and Google Play bill in your own currency at their regional rate, and show you the exact amount before you confirm anything. Monthly and yearly start with a seven-day free trial the first time you subscribe.

What the free app does

The part people actually come for is not behind a paywall. You can record, upload audio you already have, run the identification and look through the results without paying for anything, and boost the birds in two recordings a day.

  • Identification of over 6,000 species, running on your device rather than on a server.
  • Recording in the field and uploading audio and video you already have.
  • Bird Boost on two recordings a day: pull one bird forward and push the rest of the recording back, for every bird they hold.
  • Playing a boosted recording back as many times as you want that day, with the faders under your hand.
  • Your library of past recordings and what was found in them.

What Premium adds

Premium lifts the daily limit on boosting and unlocks exporting. Boost as many recordings as you like, and once a boost sounds right, save the finished clip out of the app — to keep, to send to somebody, or to attach to a record. The free boosts each day mean you always hear exactly what you would be paying for before you decide.

Signing in takes Premium with you

Signing in ties a subscription to your account rather than to a single handset, so it follows you to a new phone. It is free, BirdAmp asks for it before you subscribe from the export screen, and nothing else needs it.

Billing

Who actually charges me?

Apple or Google, depending on where you installed the app. We never see your card details. Everything about the payment — the currency, the tax, the receipt — is handled by the store.

How do I cancel?

In the store, not in BirdAmp: Subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the renewal and you keep Premium until the period you have already paid for runs out.

What happens if a payment fails?

On Google Play there is a grace period — seven days on the monthly plan, fourteen on the yearly — during which Premium keeps working while the payment is retried. Sorting out the card in that window means nothing is interrupted.

I paid on my old phone. Do I have to pay again?

No. Sign in with the same account on the new phone and your purchase comes back. Lifetime purchases restore the same way.

Is there a free trial?

Yes: seven days on the monthly and yearly plans, the first time you subscribe. The store shows the date the trial ends before you confirm, and if you cancel before then nothing is charged. Lifetime has no trial.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are the store’s to give, under Apple’s and Google’s own policies, and are requested through them rather than through us.
