The black-and-white shrike-flycatcher (Bias musicus), also known as the vanga flycatcher, is a passerine bird found in Africa. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

This species inhabits subtropical or tropical dry forests, as well as moist lowland and montane forests across Africa. Its range extends from West African nations such as Senegal and Nigeria to East and Southern African countries including Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

Did you know?

Although its common name suggests a connection to shrikes, the species was previously placed with the wattle-eyes and batises in the family Platysteiridae before being recognised as more closely related to helmetshrikes and woodshrikes.
