Overview

The fawn-coloured lark, or fawn-coloured bush-lark, is a species of lark in the family Alaudidae found in south-central Africa. The species is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

The bird is found across south-central Africa, with an estimated global extent of occurrence of 2,400,000 km2. Its range encompasses Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Did you know?

The subspecies C. a. intercedens and C. a. alopex were formerly separated as the foxy lark but were lumped with the fawn-coloured lark following a 2024 molecular genetic study that found only shallow genetic divergence.
