The Karoo lark, also known as the red-backed lark, is a species of lark in the family Alaudidae. It is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

This bird is endemic to South Africa, where its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry shrubland. Its range is divided among four subspecies found on the western coast, in south-western, western, and southern South Africa.

Did you know?

The species was formerly associated with two other larks, the dune lark and Barlow's lark, which some authorities once considered to be its subspecies.
