The Campephaga flava, commonly known as the black cuckooshrike or African black cuckooshrike, is a bird species in the family Campephagidae. It belongs to a superspecies complex that includes Petit's and the red-shouldered cuckooshrike.

Habitat

This species occupies a wide range across sub-Saharan Africa, including Angola, Botswana, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats consist of subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, dry savanna, and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.
