Overview

The Carpospiza brachydactyla, also known as the pale rock sparrow, is a small sparrow that serves as the sole member of the genus Carpospiza. Although its appearance and behaviour share similarities with finches, anatomical features of its tongue confirm its classification within the sparrow family.

Habitat

This species inhabits subtropical or tropical dry shrublands and temperate grasslands across a range stretching from eastern Turkey to Afghanistan, extending southward to the Arabian Peninsula and northern Africa as far as Ethiopia.
