Oriental Greenfinch

Overview

The Oriental greenfinch (Chloris sinica), also known as the grey-capped greenfinch, is a small passerine bird belonging to the finch family Fringillidae. It breeds in broadleaf and conifer woodlands across the East Palearctic region and is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Medium-sized finch measuring 12.5 to 14 cm in length.
• Possesses a strong bill and a short, slightly forked tail.

Habitat

This species inhabits broadleaf and conifer woodlands within the East Palearctic. Its range includes regions such as Eastern Manchuria to South Ussuriland and Korea, as well as western China to South Manchuria and parts of Japan, where it winters.
