The painted quail-thrush (Cinclosoma ajax) is a medium-sized bird species in the family Cinclosomatidae. It is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

  • Length of 20–25 cm with a wing span of 20–30 cm.
  • Brown tail, crown and back, with a black mask and white belly.
  • Male: black throat and chest with a white face stripe.
  • Female: white throat and white eyebrow.

Habitat

Found in New Guinea, where it inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest.
