Bornean Green Magpie

Overview

The Bornean green magpie (Cissa jefferyi) is a passerine bird in the crow family, Corvidae. It is endemic to the montane forests of Borneo and was formerly classified as a subspecies of the Javan green magpie.

Identification

• Whitish eyes, which are unique among green magpies as other species have dark reddish-brown eyes.
• A rather harsh call.

Habitat

This species is endemic to Borneo, where it dwells in thick vegetation within the mid and upper storeys of montane forests.
