Overview

Bower's shrikethrush, also known as the stripe-breasted shrike-thrush, is a species of bird in the family Pachycephalidae that is endemic to Australia. It is currently classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

This bird is found exclusively on the southeast coast of Cape York Peninsula. Its natural habitats consist of subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

Did you know?

The specific name boweri honours Thomas Henry Bowyer-Bower, who was the curator of ornithology at the Western Australian Museum at the time of the bird's description in 1885.
