Overview

The harlequin quail (Coturnix delegorguei) is a species of bird in the family Phasianidae that is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. The species is named after the collector Adulphe Delegorgue and is found across sub-Saharan Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

Habitat

The harlequin quail occurs in sub-Saharan Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Specific subspecies inhabit the Southwest Arabian Peninsula, sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, and São Tomé Island in the Gulf of Guinea.
