The southern citril (Crithagra hyposticta) is a species of finch in the Fringillidae family. It is a resident of the eastern Afromontane region.

This species is endemic to the eastern Afromontane.

Formerly classified under the genus Serinus, the southern citril was moved to the resurrected genus Crithagra after phylogenetic analysis revealed that Serinus was polyphyletic.
