Orange-bellied Flowerpecker

Overview

The orange-bellied flowerpecker (Dicaeum trigonostigma) is a species of bird in the family Dicaeidae. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Male: Slaty-blue upperparts with a large triangular orange patch on the mantle, lighter greyish-blue upper-breast and throat, and a gradient from fiery orange on the lower breast to yellow on the vent.
• Bill: Fairly thin and short, slightly curved downwards at the tip.
• Female: Much duller than the male, mostly drab olive brown overall with a pale orange rump and yellow belly.

Habitat

Found in Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical mangrove forest, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
