Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo

Overview

The lesser racket-tailed drongo is a species of bird in the family Dicruridae found in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Its natural habitat is located near the edge or inside subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Identification

• Approximately 25–27.5 cm long, excluding outermost tail feathers, which add another 30–40 cm to reach 50 cm total length.
• Black plumage with a bluish metallic gloss.
• Lacks the head crest and has a square-cut tail, distinguishing it from the greater racket-tailed drongo.

Habitat

Found across a wide range including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. It inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
