Godlewski's Bunting

Overview

Godlewski's bunting (Emberiza godlewskii) is a species of bird in the family Emberizidae, classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. It is named after the Polish collector Victor Godlewski, who obtained a specimen that Taczanowski later used to describe the species.

Identification

• The adult has a grey head, neck, and breast, marked with a brown or black eye stripe, "mustache", and crown.
• Underparts and rump feature an orange/buff wash, while the back is mottled orange and black.
• The tail is black and orange above and white beneath, with a distinct notch at the end.
• It possesses a sparrow-like beak that is black above and pale below, with light pink legs and feet.

Habitat

The natural habitat of this species is temperate shrubland. It is found across a wide range including China, Pakistan, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Russia.
