Overview
The Urubamba antpitta (Grallaria occabambae) is a bird in the family Grallariidae that was elevated from subspecies status to full species in 2020 based on distinct differences in plumage and vocalization. It is a member of the rufous antpitta species complex and is endemic to Peru.
Habitat
This species inhabits humid montane forests, preferably the understory or forest floor, at elevations between 2,450 and 3,650 m. Its range is limited to the Peruvian departments of Junín and Cusco, where it is separated from the closely related Ayacucho antpitta by the Apurímac river.

The common name was assigned by Charles B. Cory and Carl Edward Hellmayr in 1924, taking its name from the Urubamba region, which serves as the type locality for the species.
