Philippine Bush Warbler

Overview

The Philippine bush warbler, also known as the Luzon bush warbler, is a species of bird in the family Cettiidae. It is an endemic species found exclusively in the Philippines.

Identification

• Smaller size than the Japanese bush warbler
• Deeper rufous upper back
• Darker lores and grayer plumage
• Vocalizes frequently while remaining hidden in thickets

Habitat

This bird inhabits tropical montane pine forests above 800 meters in elevation within the Cordillera Mountain Range of northern Luzon. It is typically located in the understory and low dense vegetation in the forest strata.

Diet

Presumed to feed on small invertebrates. It is typically seen alone foraging in low dense vegetation.

Did you know?

Birds in breeding condition with enlarged gonads have been collected in April, while juveniles have been observed from May to July.
