The blue-rumped pitta is a species of bird in the family Pittidae, currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. It was first described by Robert George Wardlaw-Ramsay in 1881, with the specific epithet soror meaning 'sister' to denote its close relationship to other species.

Habitat

This species inhabits subtropical or tropical seasonal forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Its geographic range includes Cambodia, China, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
