Overview

The yellowish bulbul (Hypsipetes everetti) is a species of songbird in the family Pycnonotidae, endemic to the Philippines. It is found across East Visayas, Mindanao, and the Sulu Archipelago, though populations are currently declining due to habitat loss.

Habitat

This bird inhabits tropical moist lowland forests up to 1,000 meters above sea level. Its range includes East Visayas, Mindanao, and the Sulu Archipelago, where it remains common but faces threats from illegal logging and hunting.

Diet

The diet consists of insects and fruit, although little is known about the specifics of its feeding habits. It is often seen in small groups or joins mixed flocks with other forest birds.

Breeding behaviour in this species is largely a mystery, with mating, nesting, and fledgling stages remaining undescribed. Only birds with enlarged gonads collected between April and August have been observed, offering limited insight into its reproductive cycle.
