Overview

Burchell's starling, also known as Burchell's glossy-starling, is a species of starling in the family Sturnidae native to southern Africa. It is a monogamous and presumably sedentary species that is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

This bird inhabits dry and mesic woodlands and savannah across Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It is notably absent from miombo woodland but present in westerly gusu woodlands.

Diet

In the Kalahari, they associate with camelthorn trees and feed on their flowers. Their diet also includes fruit and small animals.
