Overview

The Siberian blue robin (Larvivora cyane) is a small passerine bird formerly classified as a thrush but now generally considered a member of the Old World flycatcher family, Muscicapidae. It is a migratory insectivorous species that is part of a group of small European birds often referred to as chats.

Habitat

Breeding habitat consists of coniferous forest with dense understory, often situated beside rivers or at woodland edges. Its range covers the eastern Palearctic, including Siberia, northern Mongolia, northeastern China, Korea, and Japan, with wintering grounds in southern and south-eastern Asia and Indonesia.

Diet

This species is insectivorous and feeds on the ground, although it is described as very 'skulking'. During the winter, it also tends to stay within dense vegetation.
