Overview

The Javan munia (Lonchura leucogastroides) is a species of estrildid finch native to the Indonesian islands of southern Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok. It has also been introduced to Singapore and the Malay Peninsula and is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

This bird inhabits subtropical and tropical dry shrubland and grassland environments. Its native range includes southern Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok in Indonesia, with additional populations established in Singapore and the Malay Peninsula.

Diet

The Javan munia is known to feed on algae.
