McGregor's cuckooshrike (Malindangia mcgregori), also known as the sharp-tailed cuckooshrike, is a species of bird in the family Campephagidae. It is endemic to Mindanao island in the Philippines and is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, although its population is declining due to habitat loss.

Habitat

This species inhabits tropical moist montane forests above 1,000 metres above sea level on Mindanao island. It is locally common but faces threats from deforestation, mining, land conversion, and slash-and-burn practices.

Diet

The specific diet is unknown but is presumed to consist of insects. The bird typically forages in the canopy, either singly, in small groups, or as part of mixed-species flocks.

Did you know?

The species was formally described in 1907 by the American ornithologist Edgar Alexander Mearns, who named the species to honour the Australian and American ornithologist Richard Crittenden McGregor.
