Bold-striped Tit-Babbler

Overview

The bold-striped tit-babbler (Mixornis bornensis) is a species of Old World babbler found in Southeast Asia. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Features a distinctive yellowish supercilium and rufous crown.
• Throat is yellowish with brown streaks.
• Emits a loud, repeated 'chonk-chonk' call reminiscent of a common tailorbird.

Habitat

This species is distributed across Borneo and Java. Breeding occurs in the pre-monsoon season between February and July, during which pairs construct loose ball-shaped nests from grasses and leaves.
