Overview
The brown-streaked flycatcher (Muscicapa williamsoni) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. Some taxonomic authorities consider it to be a subspecies of the Asian brown flycatcher.
Identification
- Rufescent plumage during the breeding season.
- Becomes drab in the non-breeding season.
Habitat
Found in southern Myanmar, southern Thailand, northern peninsular Malaysia, and northeast Borneo. A vagrant was sighted 300 km south of Broome, Australia, in 2020.
Did you know?
The species name honours the collector Sir Walter James Franklin Williamson. A vagrant individual was identified in 2020 through DNA analysis of its droppings after being spotted far outside its known range.
