Overview

The Moluccan flycatcher, also known as the dark-grey flycatcher, is a species of bird in the family Monarchidae. It is endemic to Indonesia and currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

The species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests within its range in Indonesia. Three subspecies are recognised: M. g. galeata in the northern Moluccas, M. g. goramensis in the southern and south-eastern Moluccas, and M. g. buruensis on Buru in the south-western Moluccas.

Did you know?

The species possesses several alternate names, including helmet flycatcher and slaty monarch, though the latter term should not be confused with Mayrornis lessoni.
