Overview

The white-eared myza, also known as the greater Sulawesi honeyeater (Myza sarasinorum), is a species of bird in the family Meliphagidae. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

  • Approximately 20 cm long.
  • Presence is primarily revealed by its sharp calls.
  • Exhibits squirrel-like behaviour, scurrying about the branches of moss-laden trees.

Habitat

Endemic to the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, this species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane environments typically between 1700 and 2800 metres. It is regularly observed at Lore Lindu National Park in Central Sulawesi.
