Overview

The western nicator, Nicator chloris, is a species of songbird in the family Nicatoridae. It is currently listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

  • Olive green on the sides of the face and crown.
  • Very similar in appearance to the eastern nicator, often distinguished best by vocalisations and range.

Habitat

Native mainly to African tropical rainforest, it inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and swamps. The species prefers well-established secondary growth forest at elevations between 700 and 1,850 metres.
