Overview

The dark-throated oriole, also known as the black-throated oriole or Malaysian oriole, is a bird in the family Oriolidae. It is currently classified as a species of Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

Found in Southeast Asia across the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Bangka, Java, southwestern Borneo, and the Mentawai Islands archipelago. Its natural habitat consists of subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Did you know?

The species was formerly considered conspecific with the ventriloquial oriole and is sometimes grouped into a superspecies with the Philippine and Isabela orioles.
