Overview

The white-throated Fiji whistler (Pachycephala vitiensis) is a species of bird in the family Pachycephalidae, endemic to islands in southern Fiji. It was formerly considered to be conspecific with the yellow-throated Fiji whistler, and the combined group was previously known as the 'Fiji whistler'.

Habitat

The species is endemic to islands in southern Fiji, with its range including Beqa and Kadavu Island in the southwest, the south Lau Islands in the southeast, and Gau in central Fiji.

Did you know?

Before a 2014 taxonomic split by the IOC, three subspecies of the white-throated whistler were lumped with the Fiji whistler, and the Temotu whistler was formerly considered conspecific with it.
