Overview
The compact weaver (Pachyphantes superciliosus) is a species of bird in the family Ploceidae and the only member of the genus Pachyphantes. It holds a unique taxonomic position as the sister species to the clade containing the fodies in the genus Foudia.
Habitat
It inhabits subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grasslands. Its distribution is highly discontinuous, extending from Senegal to Liberia, eastward to Ethiopia, and southward to Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
