Overview

The desert sparrow (Passer simplex) is a species of bird in the sparrow family Passeridae, found in the Sahara Desert of northern Africa. It is assessed on the IUCN Red List as being of least concern for conservation, though the species is becoming scarcer as a result of habitat destruction.

Habitat

Found in the Sahara Desert of northern Africa, the desert sparrow inhabits some of the driest parts of the region. It consists of two subspecies that occur within this arid environment.
