Cabanis's greenbul, also known as Cabanis's bulbul, is a species of songbird in the family Pycnonotidae. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. This species is part of the genus Phyllastrephus, which contains 20 greenbul species.

Habitat

Found in east-central and south-central Africa, the species inhabits subtropical or tropical dry and moist lowland forests, as well as moist montane forests and shrublands. Its range spans from central Angola and southeast DR Congo to parts of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique.

Did you know?

The specific epithet 'cabanisi' was proposed in 1882 to honour Jean Cabanis, the German ornithologist who originally described the bird in 1880. Although Cabanis initially named it Trichophorus flaveolus, this name had to be replaced because it was already occupied by the white-throated bulbul.
