Overview

The Kamchatka leaf warbler (Phylloscopus examinandus) is a species in the family Phylloscopidae that was formerly part of the 'Old World warbler' assemblage. It is closely related to the Arctic and Japanese leaf warblers, with which it was previously considered conspecific.

Habitat

This species breeds in Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Hokkaido, and the Kurile Islands before migrating to Indonesia and the Philippines.

The first European observation of this bird was not recorded until July 18, 2021, when it was spotted in Kilpisjärvi, Enontekiö, Finland.
