Buff-throated Warbler

Overview

The buff-throated warbler (Phylloscopus subaffinis) is a species of leaf warbler within the family Phylloscopidae, which was formerly part of the Old World warbler assemblage. It is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Underparts are yellowish while upperparts are greenish-gray, appearing duller in colour than the similar Tickell's Leaf Warbler.
• The bill features a dark tip.
• Can be identified acoustically by a short two-note call.

Habitat

This species breeds in China and winters in northern Southeast Asia. Its natural habitat consists of temperate forests, though it specifically breeds on hillsides in open scrub.

Diet

The bird forages in low vegetation.
