Overview

The ivory-breasted pitta (Pitta maxima) is a bird species in the family Pittidae. It is endemic to North Maluku in Indonesia, where it is known locally as Paok halmahera.

Habitat

This species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. Its range is restricted to North Maluku, Indonesia, including the islands of Halmahera, Bacan, Kasiruta, Obi, possibly Mandioli, and Morotai.
