Overview
The white-browed gnatcatcher (Polioptila bilineata) is a species of bird in the family Polioptilidae. It is native to central and South America. The species was formerly considered a subspecies of the tropical gnatcatcher (Polioptila plumbea) before being split based on morphology and phylogenetic data.
Habitat
This bird is native to central and South America. Its range spans from south Mexico to north Costa Rica, north-central Costa Rica to north Colombia, Coiba island off south Panama, northwest Colombia to northwest Peru, and west-central Colombia.
Did you know?
The species was formally described in 1850 by the French naturalist Charles Lucien Bonaparte, who initially assigned it the binomial name Sylvia bilineata and specified Cartagena, a city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, as the type locality.
