Overview
The Prinia lepida is a small warbler that resides in parts of Asia. It is recognised as a distinct species following a 2021 split from the graceful prinia, confirmed by the International Ornithological Congress.
Identification
- Resident breeder across southern Asia.
- Five recognised subspecies include the darkest and most heavily streaked P. g. akyildizi from southern Turkey, which also features the brightest buff flanks.
- Small in size relative to other warblers.
Habitat
This bird is found as a resident breeder throughout southern Asia. Its range extends from Turkey to northern India, encompassing regions such as NE Syria, Iraq, SW Iran, N Oman, SE Iran, S Afghanistan, Pakistan, C Nepal, SE Nepal, NE India, and Bangladesh.
