Overview

The yellow-vented bulbul, or eastern yellow-vented bulbul, is a passerine bird in the bulbul family. It is a resident breeder across southeastern Asia and is notably one of the most common birds found in cultivated areas.

Habitat

Found in southeastern Asia ranging from Indochina to the Philippines, this species inhabits a wide variety of open environments but avoids deep forests. It is particularly adapted to human environments and regularly roams from place to place, appearing somewhat nomadic.

Diet

The species feeds on berries and small fruit, while also sipping nectar and nibbling on young shoots. It supplements its diet by consuming some insects.
