Owston's Tit

Overview

Owston's tit is a small passerine bird in the tit family that is endemic to the southern Izu Islands south of Japan. The species is currently classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Larger in size than the varied tit
• Lacks the buffish forehead and side of neck found in the related species

Habitat

This species is restricted to the islands of Miyakejima, Mikurajima, and Hachijojima in the southern Izu Islands south of Japan.
