Overview

The collared finchbill is a species of songbird in the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae. It is found in China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam, and is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

The species favours forested hills at moderate elevations. Its range spans central and southern China, northern Vietnam, Taiwan, and the Miyako and Yaeyama Islands of Japan.

Diet

Primarily a frugivore, the collared finchbill also eats seeds and insects. It consumes fruit including Hedera nepalensis and Paederia scandens.
