Red-necked Tanager

Overview

The red-necked tanager (Tangara cyanocephala) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae found in South America. It is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Mostly green plumage featuring a black back and a blue head and throat.
• Brilliant and varied coloration that includes areas of bright red, bright green, blue, and black.

Habitat

This species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, as well as heavily degraded former forests, across Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
