Habitat

This species is found in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest of South America. Its range extends across the Guianas, north Brazil, east Brazil, west Amazonia, and northeast Brazil.

The Atlantic Forest population has a far paler chest than other populations and has often been considered a separate species known as the silvery-breasted tanager (Tangara cyanomelas).
