White-browed Bush Robin

Overview

The white-browed bush robin (Tarsiger indicus) is a passerine bird belonging to the Old World flycatcher family Muscicapidae. The species is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Delayed plumage maturation results in first-year males retaining juvenile plumage that is similar to that of adult females.
• Vocalisations differ from those of the Taiwan bush robin, Tarsiger formosanus, which was formerly considered a subspecies.

Habitat

Found from the Himalayas to south-central China and north Vietnam, this bird inhabits Rhododendron and conifer forests. It performs altitudinal migration within its range.

Diet

The white-browed bush robin is an insectivore.
