Overview

The rufous-chested tanager is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.

Habitat

Found in Ecuador, Peru and southwestern Colombia, this species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.
