Overview

The Antioquia wren (Thryophilus sernai) is a Vulnerable passerine bird belonging to the wren family. Discovered in 2010 in the vicinity of the Cauca River in Antioquia, Colombia, it is closely related to the rufous-and-white wren and Niceforo's wren.

Habitat

This species occurs on both banks of the Cauca River Canyon in northwestern Colombia, where it inhabits dry forests. It is currently uncommon throughout its restricted range.

Did you know?

The species was named to commemorate the late Marco Antonio Serna Díaz (1936–1991), a Colombian naturalist from San Vicente Ferrer, Antioquia.
