Overview
The Torresian kingfisher (Todiramphus sordidus) is a species of bird in the family Alcedinidae found in southern New Guinea and Australia. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the collared kingfisher.
Habitat
This species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, mangroves, and plantations. Its range includes the Aru Islands, southern coasts of New Guinea, and various coastal regions of Australia, including northern and north-eastern coasts, north-western Australia from the De Grey River to Exmouth Gulf, and east central to southeastern Queensland.
