Little Green Pigeon

Overview

The little green pigeon (Treron olax) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae that is smaller than other members of its genus. It is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Males possess an orange neck patch shading into yellow on the underside, while females are largely olive green above with yellow undersides.
• Males feature a maroon mantle that is absent in females.
• The bird is sexually dimorphic and measures between 21 and 22 cm in length.

Habitat

Found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, this species inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Diet

Like other green pigeons, the little green pigeon is frugivorous and lives in forested habitats.
