Spot-breasted Lapwing

Overview

The spot-breasted lapwing, also known as the spot-breasted plover, is a chunky bird in the family Charadriidae. It is endemic to the Ethiopian Highlands and is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• A chunky build with a black cap, white eyebrow, and black throat.
• Features coarse spots across the breast.

Habitat

Endemic to the Ethiopian Highlands, occurring over 247,000 square kilometers. It inhabits both wet and dry montane environments, including grassland, moorland, marshes, and meadows.
